CEO and principle designer for Aspect, Michael also oversees the Tendering and Construction process. Michael’s mission is to develop a “one-stop shop” for anyone wanting quality prestige residential projects along the Eastern Border of Australia.
Married to Penny for 32 yrs, they have two children, Cassandra (27) and Joel (24). Penny and Cassandra are Interior Designers and Joel is a Landscape Designer and all work in what is a very successful business based on sound values and attention to detail.
Born of Italian parents, Michael has lived most of his 59 years and has been educated in Australia culminating in qualifications in Architecture from the University of New South Wales. After graduation Michael worked for an initial period in commercial architecture (such as schools, Council buildings, Wynyard pedestrian arcade) and high rise precast concrete construction on such buildings as the MLC Centre, CML Building, # 1 York Street.
Michael later decided to specialise in the prestige housing market and the ensuing success has positioned Michael as a leading and influential member of the housing industry winning over 30 major awards for design and construction including “Home of the Year”. Michael held a Builder’s Licence while he owned and ran a successful Design and Construction Company for custom designed luxury homes as well as very successful exhibition home building business at one stage being the 6th largest builder in NSW by turnover.
Michael has worked in the building industry for over 40 years and has run his company for 34 yrs. His heritage and building background brings the finest design traditions together with practical construction expertise with the latest technology which result in superior homes for today’s lifestyle. Innovative design to a specified budget is the result of such experience and knowledge.

Adv. Dip Interior Design
Cassandra was born in Sydney Australia and was educated in one of the top Secondary Schools in the State. After completing High School, she went on to study at the most recognised Tertiary institution for design in Australia – Design Centre Enmore – where she continued to complete her studies and obtained an Advanced Diploma of Interior Design.
During studies she was granted the opportunity to travel overseas to study her passion of Interior Design in Spain, at Marbella Design Academy.
Cassandra has worked in the design industry for the past 6 years working not only under Aspect’s name, but with other leading Architecture and Design firms in Sydney as well as on her own private projects under CSdesigns.
Her experience working for a family business, combined with exposure to European and Asian influenced design has allowed her to gain a solid background in conceptual work and construction knowledge whilst expressing sound contemporary ideas.
Over the past 6 years, she have persued a successful career in the prestige housing industry, whilst diversifying herself through projects in retail, hospitality, commercial and heritage fields with Edge Interiors in Sydney and Bluewater Studios in Kuala Lumpur. Cassandra has recently been appointed Interior Designer for the Best Western Hotel Group to refurbish their Hotels in order to change the market profile of the Group.
Through these projects, she has worked with a broad spectrum of clientele which includes clients with private projects to works completed with large developers such as Westfield and Bovis -Lend Lease.
When not at work, Cassandra enjoys contemporary art and design, leisure travel, snowboarding, and learning about and collecting fine wines.
Diploma in Horticultural Science and Landscape Design at Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE
After an initial period of working in the field of landscape maintenance on large commercial sites Joel turned to Landscape design and studied for a “Diploma in Horticultural Science and Landscape Design” at Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE.
In his ensuing years working Joel has developed a strong passion towards landscape design and has been mentored and influenced greatly by some of the leading landscape designers and architects in Sydney.
His work with Aspect has achieved credibility in the industry by winning Gold Awards two years in a row in the SPASA awards and has been featured in many articles in major magazines including:

He has had the opportunity to work on a vast variety of projects ranging from small domestic spaces, acreage properties through to major multi-housing developments in all aspects of design including:
– Swimming pools and spas
– Heritage planning
– Cabanas and outdoor rooms
– Playground design
– Residential community planning
– Tennis courts
– Decks and pergolas
– Water features
– Garages and carports
Joel enjoys, surfing, golf, snowboarding and most outdoor activities.
Diploma Interior Decoration
Penny’s role with Aspect has changed from principle Interior Designer to a wide and varied one but mainly as Finance Director. Penny also supports the Interior Design department of the company alongside Cassandra.
Penny has been married for 34 years to co-director, Michael. Both Michael and Penny started the own business in 1982 and have enjoyed its successes ever since.
In recent years both their children have entered the business and the cohesion of family has proven to be even more successful.
Born in Australia, Penny initially worked in Advertising and later studied Interiors with one of Sydney’s leading private colleges. Her family background is in hospitality and this is what led her to choose Interior Decoration for a career and followed with the Interior Design Department specialising in Hospitality and Commercial projects.
Over the past 30 years Aspect has won numerous awards – many of which were attributed to the Interiors – including Best Kitchen, Best Use of Paint, Best Lighting and “Home of the Year”. Penny’s philosophy for the selection of interior finishes is that they not only have to look amazing but also have to be functional and practical – easy to live with, easy to take care of and most importantly reflect the owner’s personality.
During leisure time Penny enjoy creating art pieces in ceramic, glass and mosaics. She also enjoys travel, reading, snow skiing and cooking.
Penny also volunteers on a regular basis for the Starlight Children’s Foundation and has been the recipient of the “Volunteer of the Year” award for her work at Westmead and Randwick Children’s Hospital and her work towards Starlight’s “Wish child’ program..
